COMPLETION OF FALL 2020 SEMESTER

The scheduled Fall 2020 completion date is Friday, December 11, 2020 with grades being due by 10:00 a.m. The college will be closed for the winter holidays from December 21, 2020 through January 1, 2021. We continue to monitor global, state, and county COVID-19 metrics on a daily basis and follow the guidance of federal, state, and local health officials. The goal of Brazosport College is to complete the Fall semester while maintaining the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff.

SPRING 2021 EVENTS

Keeping health and safety at the forefront, these facilities will be available for rent while following guidelines established by federal, state, and local authorities regarding the pandemic. Following guidance from Governor Greg Abbott’s Open Texas Minimum Standard Health Protocols Checklist, safety precautions include limiting the number of attendees to 75% occupancy, setting up events to promote social distancing, and having buffets fully served or individually plated meals. In addition, the College reserves the right, upon reasonable notice under the circumstances, to cancel or reschedule a rental based upon federal, state, or local government guidance due to the spread of the coronavirus during the pandemic.

ONLINE COVID-19 HEALTH SCREENING PROCESS

Brazosport College health screening process is online for all employees, students, and visitors who come to campus.You will need to fill out the questionnaire each day you intend on coming to the Brazosport College campus.

Based on guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and health authorities, beginning Monday, November 9, 2020, Brazosport College is adjusting its online COVID-19 Health Screening questionnaire. The questions you will be asked are:

• In the past 24 hours, have you experienced any of the following symptoms other than those related to seasonal allergies:
  • Fever (Equal to or greater than 100.4F)or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache

  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose (not related to seasonal allergies)
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
• In the past 14 days:
  • Have you had close contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19

The COVID-19 Health Screening questionnaire can be accessed inEnglishorSpanishby visitingwww.www.d-onis.com/screening. This questionnaire has been designed to be quick and simple to fill out, and can be easily accessed through all internet browsers, smartphones, and tablets.

Once completed, you will be shown either a green check mark with “APPROVED FOR ENTRY” if you have passed, or a red exclamation mark with “STAY HOME, STAY SAFE” if you failed, as well as your name, and the date you completed the questionnaire. If you arrive on campus without completing the Health Screening questionnaire, you can complete it using your smartphone. If you do not have access to a computer or smartphone, computer stations are available at Human Resources located in the C-Wing lobby as well as in the Library located in the center of campus.

Brazosport College has increased focus on safety monitoring to promote safety protocols of social distancing, wearing a face covering or mask, practicing good hygiene, etc. Once on campus, have either the confirmation email or confirmation screen of your completed questionnaire available as you may be asked at random to show proof of completing the self-screening tool. Audits within the health screening system will also be conducted to ensure self-screenings are being completed.

Upon arrival to campus, you will be able to access all parking lots and enter campus through most entrances. To provide clarification, face masks/coverings are required for all students, employees, and visitors (ages 10 and up) any time on campus.To clarify, face shields are not considered face masks/coverings. If an individual chooses to wear a face shield, the individual must also wear a face mask/covering which fully covers the mouth and nose except as allowed in the following exceptions.The exceptions are: if you are walking, running, or biking on the trails; if you are in your vehicle; if you are alone in your office with the door closed; if you are a welding student actively welding and wearing a welding face shield; and, if you are an instructor lecturing students, you may wear a face shield instead of a face mask in addition to maintaining 6ft. of distance. Otherwise, all individuals, students, faculty, staff, grounds keepers and contractors are to wear a face covering/mask.

Anyone that does not pass the COVID-19 Health Screening questionnaire should not come to campus. Everyone that passes should be prepared to show the confirmation email.

COVID-19 CONTACT/EXPOSURE REPORT FORM

For individuals needing to self-identify as affected by COVID-19 or notify Brazosport College of COVID-19 incidents involving students, faculty, or staff, please visit//www.d-onis.com/coronavirus/report/.

Please note, the COVID-19 Contact/Exposure Report Form is separate and apart from the Health Screening Questionnaire. The COVID-19 Contact/Exposure Form should be completed if you have been exposed to someone or if you have tested positive for COVID-19.

LAKE JACKSON MOBILE TESTING

COVID-19 mobile testing will be available Monday, November 30, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Lake Jackson Recreation Center, 91 Lake Road, Lake Jackson. Tests will be conducted by appointment only and will include a pre-screening process. To register, visittxcovidtest.org.

REGISTER FOR SPRING 2021 COURSES

After careful consideration, along with guidance from the Center for Disease Control and the Texas Department of State Health Services, the delivery format of courses will remain altered for the Spring 2021 semester. These changes help promote physical distancing and reduce contact among students, faculty, and staff.

Spring courses will be delivered in one of the following formats:

1. Face-to-Face:Traditional on-campus courses with social distancing and other safety precautions in place.
2. Blended:Courses with both on-campus and online instruction.
3. Scheduled Live Online:Online courseswithscheduled live interaction with instructors. Student will log-in at their designated class time.
4. Online:Online courseswithoutscheduled live interaction with instructors.

The $40 online course fee will not be charged for Spring 2021 classes, but please note that all other course fees still apply.

TECHNOLOGY ACCESS AVAILABLE IN GATOR HALL

As the current supply of available hotspots has been depleted, students taking courses in any format or those having trouble with internet access, are able to use Gator Hall located in the center of BC Central. Gator Hall is available to students to access the college internet Monday – Thursday from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Students should bring their own laptop, and will be required to wear a mask/facial covering and adhere to social distancing requirements while on campus. Because the room has been arranged for social distancing, it is limited to thirty (30) students at a time. Disinfecting wipes and cleaning supplies are available.

IT HELPDESK

The IT Helpdesk is available for in-person and remote assistance. In-person hours are Monday – Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., and online support is available Monday – Thursday from 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
