Brazosport College offering free cybersecurity training classes

Brazosport College is offering two free cybersecurity training classes for students with networking knowledge.

The one-week classes — Certified Network Defender and Certified Ethical Hacker — will be offered at Brazosport College’s Corporate Learning Center at no cost to the participant.

The Certified Network Defender course will be scheduled from Aug. 15 through Aug. 19, while the Certified Ethical Hacker class is Aug. 29 through Sept. 2. Both classes run 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CERTIFIED NETWORK DEFENDER
Dates:August 15-19 (Mon-Fri)

Pre-requisite:An existing knowledge of networking experience (e.g. routing, switching, TCP/IP, etc.) will help candidates taking this course.
Course description:Certified Network Defender (CND) is a vendor-neutral, hands-on, instructor-led comprehensive network security certification training program. It is a skills-based, lab-intensive program based on the security education framework and work-role task analysis presented by the National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF), as well as a job-task analysis and cybersecurity education framework by the National Initiative of Cybersecurity Education (NICE). The course has also been mapped to global job roles and to the Department of Defense (DoD) job roles for system/network administrators.

The program prepares network administrators how to identify what parts of an organization need to be reviewed and tested for security vulnerabilities and how to reduce, prevent and mitigate risks in the network. CND covers the protect, detect, respond and predict approach to network security.

CERTIFIED ETHICAL HACKER

Course description:The Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) training provides an in-depth understanding of ethical hacking phases, various attack vectors and preventative countermeasures. It teaches how hackers think and act so you will be better positioned to set up your security infrastructure and defend against attacks. By providing an understanding of system weaknesses and vulnerabilities, the CEH course helps students learn to protect their organizations and strengthen their security controls to minimize the risk of a malicious attack.

CEH was built to incorporate a hands-on environment and systematic process across each ethical hacking domain and methodology, providing the opportunity to work toward proving the required knowledge and skills needed to achieve the CEH credential and perform the job of an ethical hacker. Now in its 11th version, CEH continues to evolve with the latest operating systems, tools, tactics, exploits and technologies.
