BC to celebrate Black History Month during the month of February

Brazosport College will celebrate Black History Month throughout the month of February with a variety of events and discussions.

The busy month begins with a kickoff celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 1 on campus in front of Bonnen Central and will conclude with a Colonial Black Women Lunch & Learn event on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Also highlighting the month’s activities is an educational discussion on beauty standards and the impact of hairstyle choices, as well as a Black Identity Luncheon and a Black Empowerment Network workshop and seminar dedicated to businesses and personal development. Rounding out the month’s activities will be a ceremony for the MLK Celebration Committee poster awards.

Take a break from work and school, and spend some quality time together remembering what's uniquely wonderful about each other as we kick off Black History Month. TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 21Black Empowerment Network Business Expo and Network Social10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Dow Academic Center at Brazosport CollegeCome network, collaborate and grow as we support Black Businesses and explore entrepreneurs and start-ups. This event will feature workshops and seminars dedicated to business and personal development for students, start-ups and businesses, and entrepreneurs. This event is open to the public. THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 23MLK Poster and Essay Awards Ceremony6:30 – 8 p.m. at Gator Hall“Creating the Change” poster and essay winners will be presented with awards.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28Colonial Black Women Lunch and Learn11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at BC Library加入我们为一盒午餐和lecture on colonial Black women of history. Lunch will be served to current students.
